The first order
isn’t the hard part.

At $500K+, growth stops being a traffic problem and starts becoming an operating system problem. Every decision changes what your team, customer, and margin must absorb next.

The first order proves demand. The second order determines whether the business can survive its own growth.

This newsletter is selfish, really.I'm using it to solve my business' problems from the best operators in the world.

I'm Travis DiPerna. I run Everlore Hollowa DTC subscription that ships serialized fiction, candles, teas, and mysterious artifacts.

Second Order Club is about what happens after the first sale. Most brands aren't profitable on order one anymore, which means the whole business rides on whether that customer comes back. What makes someone open box two? What breaks when volume doubles? When do you hire, and when do you eat the pain another quarter?

Before this I was a Navy photojournalist, then studied philosophy. Strange way to end up selling candles, but it explains the format: I'm better at getting other people to say the interesting thing than at claiming I already know it.

I'm not covering DTC from the sidelines. I'm in the mess.
